Seasons at St Peter's
Seasons at St Peter's is a peer support programme for children who have suffered a loss. This may have been a death, divorce or serious illness of someone close to them.
When children are faced with feelings they can't name they struggle to express them appropriately. The Seasons programme helps them name what's happening inside them and find more helpful ways of letting it out.
Seasons was developed by Catholic Family Services in Melbourne and has been offered in New Zealand since 1997. There are Seasons programmes available throughout the North Island and in Dunedin. The programme is sometimes offered in schools but usually consists of eight to ten sessions for an hour or so once a week after school.
