  • sermons (both historic and current - all interesting reading).

Test your Bible knowledge

I don't know about you but I enjoy doing quizzes and two websites I have come across for bible quizzes are Bible Quizzes and Questions (a UK website which not only has quizzes on their site but links to numerous other pages including stories, lesons, studies and of course, more quizzes) and Bible Quizzes (not a flashy site but with some interesting quizzes including for children).   (February 2012)

The South Island Organ Company were responsible for all but the painting of the pipes in the superb refurbishment of the organ.  We express our condolences for the three staff members who were killed in the Christchurch earthquake.  For more information about both the company and Neil Stocker, Scott Lucy, and Paul Dunlop click here. (February 2011)

Given St Peter’s on Willis’ longstanding and on-going relationship with Temple Sinai, we would be derelict if we did not link to their website. They were very supportive of our fundraising events for the restoration of the organ, both in terms of attendance and advertising and provided us with a lovely venue for our Inaugural Concert after function. Thank you Temple Sinai. (February 2011)

From the bulletin 7 November 2010

When is a pipe organ just a pipe organ?

"Many congregations today ... consistently ask themselves how they can connect people with an experience of God through their worship." Read this article by N. Graham Standish at http://www.alban.org/conversation.aspx?id=9309 or just go to http://www.alban.org/ and follow the links.

From the vicar (4 July 2010)

While preparing for Clergy School which happens this month, I visited the website of the visiting guest presenter, UK Bishop Graham Cray. The site, http://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/ has been set up to encourage new forms of church for a fast changing world, working with Christians from a variety of denominations and traditions.

I also followed a link from that site to http://www.sharetheguide.org/ which has how-to-do-it advice on starting, developing and sustaining fresh expressions of church based on shared experiences. It includes blog posts from people all around the world exploring what mission means in their context.

An excellent general Anglican website is http://wn.anglican.org.nz/

This web site is "where ideas, words, images, facts and figures weave a story of the church’s mission in the Anglican Diocese of Wellington".

Among their many excellent publications is "The Arts and Christianity Winter 2010" newsletter. A copy of this pdf file is available here. Page 3 has an interesting article on the St Peter's on Willis' "Restoration" series of concerts.

Hugely worth a look is: http://www.episcopalcafe.com/ and the wide-ranging and provocative opinion pieces under Daily Episcopalean, with subject including:

Should the Episcopal Church go out of business?, Setting Liturgical Expectations and Staying Awake in Church (there are several suggestions but no guaranteed one :-) .

This is an interesting website - I flicked into it for a moment - or so I thought - flitting here and there, picking up on a blog, a musing, a piece of art work and suddenly it was an hour later .... so much for that "early night".
